QUICK NOTES

STEALING GRANNY’S

I have this habit of scavenging through our closets, hoping to find old clothes which I can mix and match with my current wardrobe.

You see, fashion can be a cycle. What’s in yesterday may be in again tomorrow. So you’re lucky if you can go through your mom’s or grandma’s closet and uncover vintage pieces like no other. Plus, the fact that vintage pieces exude a specific charm  unparalleled by new ones, makes it even more exciting!

And, just in time for summer, here’s an outfit so effortlessly put together:

Garage Manila vintage polo top in Granny Rose Random distressed maong shorts

DreamBig Shop shoes

I don’t exactly know what type of fabric was used for this polo but this is an alternative for chiffon on summer days. If you’re hesitant wearing chiffon as it’s too thin or sheer, you may opt for a soft, breezy fabric like this (:

Simply tie the bottom of your vintage polo (as seen above) for an instant fix and you’re good to go! Want the top? Visit Garage Manila (:

Hype this look on Lookbook here and vote for this look on Chictopia here.

PS. Don’t you just love the shoes can be easily matched up with almost all outfits I’ve posted? Read the full shoe post here. Wanting a pair yourself? It’s available in different colors! VisitDreambig Shop

Lian

MINNIE ON THE LOOSE

BLACK + WHITE + POLKA + RED, yes, I’m thinking Minnie Mouse!

I was scavenging my closet when I found this cute bubble shorts from way back. I totally forgot about this one and so I spared this one for one special occasion —- our mini family reunion (: I wanted not to go over the top since most of the family members had seen us when we were still in cutesy baby jumpers. I aimed for a ‘teeny’ outfit instead and tossed some red to top it off!

Secondly, this pair of shoes I’m wearing here is another from Dreambig Shop! I’m loving the shop for all its fab shoe offerings!

Red just pops out of any subtle outfit, don’t you think? Totally transforms one look from plain and boring to chic and sometimes, loud (the good ‘loud’ of course).

Okay, I can explain what I did here. HAHA. Forgive my what-the-hell pose here. hihi. My brother was taking outfit shots here too and made this pose. I was provoked by the ‘inggitera’ in me that I tried doing the same. And so, I ended up looking like this :p

PS. Eyeing those red wedges? Don’t fret! The pair’s available here: Dreambig Shop ♥ Wedges, pumps, creepers, you name it, they have it!

BLACK OF ALL TRADES

Remember what I always say? Others’ tops are my dresses. This is one advantage of being petite. Haha. So stop magnifying the cons and start emphasizing the positives!

Pairing this simple loose black long top with a deep red lippie made the outfit classy yet somewhat a little edgy (read: sexy).

TIP: Nude shoes make your legs appear longer (:

TRIBAL INSTINCT

Thank heavens that people this season are now wearing ethnic/tribal prints!

I think it’s about time that we get to appreciate art in this form. We live in a country so rich in culture and yet we opt to neglect that fact. I, myself, embraced my love for tribal prints not so long ago. I love the mix of colors, the geometric shapes, and lines, all so wonderfully patterned in fabrics. These prints totally rock even the most basic cut of clothing there is! Can you just imagine how powerful that is?

KEEPING IT LONG

I have always been afraid of wearing skirts longer than 6 inches from my hips. Why? Because I’m petite and I always believed long skirts would never look good on me. But then I was wrong! I sooo wanted to try maxi skirts for a very long time now. I always envied tall girls ‘cause they can wear whatever they want.

So it was just a matter of a certain level of ‘good’ envy that pushed me into actually wearing one. Hihi. Can’t blame me, gusto ko talaga i-try :p

What do you think? (:
